V-Ray 3 for SketchUp is a brand new rendering experience. It has been redesigned from the ground up. The new user interface is clean and simple. With quick presets and streamlined controls, you can focus on being creative, without worrying about the technical stuff. Now, it's faster and easier than ever to create great looking renders within SketchUp.

V-Ray 3 is the smartest and fastest rendering solution for SketchUp. Its twin-engine rendering architecture is built to take full advantage of the latest CPU and GPU computing technology. With a full suite of creative tools, V-Ray lets you render anything and everything – from quick design models to your most detailed 3D scenes.

V-Ray for Sketchup is primarily used for architecture and interior design.

V-Ray 3 for Sketchup, without a doubt, will become your primary visualisation tool with Sketchup.

V-Ray for Sketchup Licensing

V-Ray products are licensed by one of the following methods (at your option):

  • Cloud License: Connecting to a cloud license server hosted by Chaos Group and accessed with a user ID and password
  • Dongle License: Using a USB License Key (commonly known as a USB license dongle or USB hardware key)
  • Combination: A combination of Cloud and Dongle License

Standalone License and Network Floating License

Both the online license and the dongle license can be deployed as either:

  • Standalone License: The license(s) is placed on the same computer as the end-user(s) of the application.
  • Network Floating License: The license(s) is placed on your own server computer to be accessed by various end-user(s) on other computers within the network. The option to float your license comes free with all V-Ray products.
  • Combination: This is a combination of standalone licenses and network floating licenses.

Distributed Render / Network Rendering

V-Ray products also comes with an option for additional Render Node licenses (also known Distributed Render licenses) for distributing the rendering workload to other available computers within the network and make maximum use of their available and unused CPU and GPU resources.

System Requirements

Please make sure that your system fulfills these requirements before installing V-Ray. Note that V-Ray is only supported for 64-bit operating systems and 64-bit versions of Rhino.

  • Processor: Intel® Pentium ® IV or compatible processor with SSE3 support. Need a powerful workstation recommendation? Contact us
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM and 4 GB swap minimum – recommended 8 GB or more RAM, 8 GB or more swap file.
  • USB Port: A spare USB port is needed if you are using a dongle to license V-Ray.
  • Graphics Card: A good graphics card is recommended if you plan to do rendering using GPU. Need a powerful workstation recommendation? Contact us
  • TCP/IP: Only IPv4 is supported. IPv6 is currently not supported.
  • Connectivity: Internet connection needed for Online License (Cloud License) access.
  • Operating System for Windows: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only).
  • Operating System for Mac: Apple® Mac OS X 10.9.x or higher.
  • Sketchup for Windows: Sketchup 2015 or later (64-bit versions only).
  • Sketchup for Mac: Version 2015, 2016 or later.
