HandyPROBE Portable CMM

The HandyPROBE™ system is a portable CMM and arm-free probing system from Creaform, Inc the makers of the Handyscan 3D scanners.

The system's main components are the HandyPROBE stylus (a handheld wireless and armless probing device) and the C-Track™ (dual-camera sensor). They combine to form a unique system that is able to generate high accuracy measures and increase the reliability and speed of measurement processes.

Compared to other existing coordinate measurement technologies, the HandyPROBE portable wireless CMM gives you total freedom of movement, allowing for significant increase in productivity and quality of work. The HandyPROBE is also able to work in evironments where movements and vibrations are present.

HandyPROBE comes together with it's own proprietory software VXprobe. The HandyPROBE systems also works with the following inspection software:

HandyPROBE Stylus

The HandyPROBE Stylus is the actual device that is held by the operator when he is taking measurements.

The handheld device has interchangeable probe tips with varying ball diameters and probe lengths. Buttons on the device allows the operator to send commands to the metrology software to commit a point measurement, complete a geometric shape and undo a previous commit. The device communicates with system wirelessly and if the operator prefers, he can also connect using USB.

C-Track Dual Camera Sensor

The C-Track dual-camera sensor is fitted with high quality optics and special lighting, enabling it to measure all reflectors within its operating space. In addition to tracking the whole system’s reference model, the C-Track ensures the exact localisation of the HandyPROBE stylus, performs continuous image acquisition and transmission, lighting of reflectors, wireless communication with the HandyPROBE stylus, management of the exchanges with the computer and storage of the sensor parameters.

Besides operating in combination with HandyPROBE stylus, the C-Track can also be deployed separately in customised systems for positioning and movement tracking.

The C-Track is available as 3 separate and optional models.

  • C-Track 780 - 7.80m3 of work volume and extendable
  • C-Track 1480 - 14.80m3 of work volume and extendable
  • C-Track 380 - 3.80m3 of work volume and extendable
 
HandyPROBE - Extending The Work Volume

The large work volume of the C-Track can be further extended* by re-positioning the C-Track as depicted in the above graphics. The size of the 3D reference model is effectively increased as more positioning targets are captured. This is accomplished with minimal loss of accuracy.

Once, the reference model is created, the operator can use the HandyPROBE handheld stylus to probe more measurement points or simply use the positioning targets as measurement points.

The HandyPROBE system's ability to easily extend the working volume opens up the possibility to measure large items that typically cannot be measured with CMM arms (articulated arms).

C-Track 380

The C-Track 380 Dual-Camera Sensor is able to track and measure co-ordinates up to 3120 mm (123 in) away from the dual camera housing.

  • Maximum possible distance of points from C-Track : 3120 mm (123 in)
  • Single point performance* : 45 μm (0.0018 in)
  • Volumetric performance* : 75 μm (0.0029 in)
  • Certifications : EN 301 489-1, EN 301 489-3, EN 300 220-1
  • Measurement volume : 3.80m3 (from a single fixed position).  Measurement volume can be extended beyond this by re-positioning the C-Track.
  • Extension of measurement can be done with or without adding-on MaxSHOT 3D

C-Track 780

The C-Track 780 Dual-Camera Sensor is able to track and measure co-ordinates up to 3825 mm (151 in) away from the dual camera housing. It has a larger field of view (measurement volume) then the C-Track 380.

C-Track 1480

The C-Track 1480 Dual-Camera Sensor is able to track and measure co-ordinates up to 4695 mm (185 in) away from the dual camera housing. It has the largest field of view (measurement volume) among all the C-Track models.
